‘GOOD AND DIFFERENT USES OF COMPOST’ – 4TH THEMATIC SEMINAR OF THE CORE PROJECT in Germany

The 4th Thematic Seminar of the CORE project within the framework of Interreg Europe 2021-2027 is underway in Germany. We learn about good practices and interesting composting solutions not only from the hosts of the meeting, but also from the other partners of this international initiative.

We model the use of soil improvers instead of fertilisers to improve soil quality.
Hungarians show the results of using compost in the urban climate gardens in Budapest. In this way, they manage to reduce the temperature in the city centre.
In South Tyrol, meanwhile, a project is being implemented to rehabilitate – using compost – 20 ha of contaminated land. It is worth EUR 2.5 million.
The Belgians talk about their information campaigns and how bio-waste from plants, fruit, vegetables, leaves, branches etc. can be reused as compost in horticulture and agriculture.
The seminar also included study visits. We visited the soil substrate production plant with green waste composting, substrate production and packaging for sale to end consumers of Stork GmbH in Nauen and the newly built digester and composting plant with dry digester of Reterra Kompostwerk Trappenfelde.
The Marshal’s Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (Department for Regional Development with the support of the Department for Agriculture, Climate and the Environment), is one of nine and only Polish partners in the project. In addition to the coordinators from UMWŚ, the seminar in Brandenburg is attended by Paweł Rędziak, President of the Board of the Ecological Association of Municipalities of the Koprzywianka River Basin, which is a regional stakeholder in the project.
