The stone was discovered in 1988 in Kontrewers near Mniów in the Świętokrzyskie voivodship. It is considered one of the most interesting Polish archaeological relics.
The history of the village of Młyńczyska is still not well known, holding many secrets. Młyńczyska were established by Duke Radziwiłł. Because of the proximity of the river and a good transport location, a watermill was built there. Later, the dwelling changed hands several times including Jews, Americans, local landowners and others.
You do not need to travel to France to admire lavender fields, captivating with its colour and fragrance. In May and June, in Winiary Dolne near Nowy Korczyn, flowering lavender gives a stunning scent. In addition, flying horseflies, bumblebees and butterflies make an unforgettable mixture of sounds.
As the legend says, around 1680, knights from the Sandomierz region founded several street lights as a thanksgiving for the victories over Turks on the battle of Chocim (Khotyn). The oldest one, and the best preserved, stands at an entrance gate to the former manor house, when the “Sarmata” Hotel is situated in Sandomierz now. However, a history about the happy knights is not fully confirmed.
According to the records the “Bartek” oak is over 700 years old. It is 30 metres high and 10 meters thick. The tree is tremendous and unique.
Passersby do not pay attention to a marbled plaque on the north wall of the cathedral in Kielce, in the belief that it is an epitaph. But the content of this plaque can be surprising after closer examination.
The real treasure is kept in two 18th century tenement houses at the market square in Jędrzejów in the Świętokrzyskie voivodship. It is the world’s third collection of sundials and gnomonic devices.
According to connoisseurs, Polish wine is palatable, original and aromatic, with a hint of freshness. Wine-making has been revived in the Świętokrzyskie voivodship.
Maruszów is a little village on the Kielce – Lublin route. A retired miner, Edward Ziarko, lives here developing his unusual interests.
