Młyńczyska

The Historic Watermill in Ponidzie

The history of the village of Młyńczyska is still not well known, holding many secrets. Młyńczyska were established by Duke Radziwiłł. Because of the proximity of the river and a good transport location, a watermill was built there. Later, the dwelling changed hands several times including Jews, Americans, local landowners and others.

The wooden watermill stands by the Młynówka river for over 150 years. There is a museum there nowadays. The watermill was powered by a water turbine. Grinding equipment is placed on three levels. Guests are greeted by a large wooden sculptures representing Noe and his wife.

On the wall dried herbs hangs, with a description of use. The coat of arms of the Świętokrzyskie voivodship, consisting of poppy, cereal and peas seeds, is also shown there. We can also see an old horse mill, a threshing machine, fanners and other farm equipment. However, there is also an authentic wooden convenience found in an attic of the tenement house in Cracow.

There are fish ponds and the holiday farm called “Dworek Staropolski” in the vicinity of the watermill.
